an update--2

Well, hi there.

You may or may not have noticed my silence around here the last little while (and if you haven’t, you totally won’t hurt my feelings). I’m working through some things that will determine the direction of this tiny corner of the internet and am taking the necessary time to figure them out. I really, really love this space–I love the community I’ve found here, the release it provides, and the ways that it has stretched and grown me–and I’m hoping to return to regular posts soon.

If you’re reading this, thanks for being here. I’m so grateful for the friends I’ve made and the amazing people like you that make this blog so much fun. As always, we can connect via email anytime ( and elsewhere on the web. Let’s chat soon. :)

Weekly Riches / 25

June 27, 2015

Weekly Riches is a year-long challenge to myself to more carefully take note of what I'm thankful for and all the ways that I am rich. I encourage you to consider the same things in your own life!

Last night I drove the winding road up the mountain to my dad’s house–I had the windows down and the music loud and my ears popped from the altitude. As I made the way up I was hit by one of those big, huge waves of nostalgia–you know what those are like, right?–and was reminded that there really is no place like home.

Other than a beautiful summer evening drive, here’s what made me rich this week:

  • Teamwork. In my marriage, in my workplace, in my family.
  • My hometown. I never truly appreciated that sleepy little town until I left it for good.
  • A good ol’ thunderstorm. They’re a little bit therapeutic for me.
  • Fresh berries and homemade whipped cream. Helllooo, summer.

I’m looking forward to a weekend full of quality time with our family and a few more nights of Colorado air. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

What are you grateful for this week?

Looking back on the month -

Guys. It’s almost July? Like, Fourth of July, 6 months of blogging, first wedding anniversary July? I can’t believe where the time has gone this year. No one told me how fast time flies once you graduate college and get married.

The last month was busy, exciting, and taught Kyle and me a lot about learning to lean on each other. Quite frankly, I’m sad to see it go! Let’s take a look back before we jump into next month.

Lately, I’ve been…

Making: quiet time a priority.
Cooking: Paleo as often as possible. It’s become pretty routine in our house.
Drinking: Arnold Palmers. A total guilty pleasure lately.
Reading: Bloglovin’. If I forget to, things feel…off.
Wanting: the perfect summer skirt.
Looking: slightly tanner. Thank you, summer.
Playing: Spotify Premium. 99 cents for 3 months? Sure, why not.
Wasting: as little as possible.
Sewing: …
Wishing: for weekends with my husband.
Enjoying: evenings outside.
Waiting: for Kyle to join me here in Colorado.
Liking: the new Instagram update! Have you tried it out yet?
Wondering: what next July will be like.
Loving: our life in Philly.
Hoping: for a mild summer? Maybe? Fingers crossed.
Marvelling: at the power of good communication.
Needing: girl time.
Smelling: momma’s granola in the oven.
Wearing: dresses. Dresses, dresses, dresses.
Following: the same. exact. routine every single day. I wouldn’t mind switching it up a little every so often.
Noticing: I haven’t been picking up my camera as often. That needs to change.
Knowing: I am really stinkin’ blessed.
Thinking: about what’s next.
Bookmarking: ice cream recipes. Lots and lots of ice cream recipes.
Opening: AAA mail. Do any of you members get an unreal amount of mail from them? So many trees.
Feeling: very, very grateful.

Learning how to style boyfriend jeans

We all know by now that I’m a fan of versatility: if an item can be dressed up or dressed down or is just as useful in the heat as it is in the cold, I’m sold. The boyfriend jean is the epitome of this, and once I (finally) found a pair that suited me, I snatched them up for all kinds of year-round wear.

When it’s wicked hot and equally as humid out, these guys offer a loose, effortless look. I paired them with my new Target sandals (the ones that haven’t left my feet since I bought them) and my favorite classic tee, and I was good for lunch with friends or an afternoon downtown. Had I added heels and a bold lip, I’d have been ready for dinner with the girls. When temps start to drop a little, they’ll be paired with booties and a utility jacket.

That, my friends, is versatility.
